Prison inmates in Owerri clamour for a better health facility services

Prison inmates in Owerri correction service cell, have called on the government and the general public to support the improvement of the health services in the yard.

Drizzlersnews crew visited the prison yard and some of the inmates seen, were on queue begging the nurses on duty to give them medication for the ailment, which most of them complained of having sexual infections, swollen feet, headache, malaria and the doctor on duty was not  on seat, but may probably comeback on Saturday, as replied by the nurse who pleaded with the inmates to come back by six O clock in the evening  for the drugs.

Some inmates were asked to bring money for the purchase of medications outside the prison yard, which have been recommended for the treatment of their aliment, but it is not in the prison pharmacy at that moment .

Although the head of the department in the nursing section have left instructions of duties and medications to be given to the inmates before he left office.

Some of the inmates cried of been on awaiting trial for more than ten years and nobody takes them to court because of no fund, neither is their relations come to visit them.

Justice delayed is justice denied and the pleaded with human right lawyers, organizations and individuals to intercede in their cases.

Most of the building structures seen in prison are very old, except few newly built structures and the medical services is very poor as well slow.

Rather than be a correctional service centre as renamed by the federal government, inmates who were arrested for a crime committed and prosecuted in court, serving their jail term in prison get worst in crime before the could regain their freedom.
