The Ex-Super Eagles of Nigeria right full back Mobi Oparaku was with his friends to watch the Owerri Nchi-ise unity Soccer tournament football match between Amawom and Umu - Odu kindred at the Old township Stadium in Tetlow road in Owerri Municipal Local Government Area in Imo state.  Despite not his own kindred umu- Onyechie then prayed that after the soccer tournament some players that did well will get signed by clubs and asked the players to be disciplined both in the football pitch and outside the world.  Mobi used the opportunity to relate with his old pals in Igbo languag e and thanked Kelechi Iheanacho for his support in youth development programmes in the gr ass root and called for sponsorship from cooperate organizations then concluded that by asking Kelechi Iheanacho to remain focused and put his trust in almight God .     

The Super Eagles of Nigeria and Leicester city striker Kelechi Iheanacho donated the sum of one million Naira for Owerri n'ich-ise Christmas unity soccer tournament for youth soccer talent hunt which kicked off on the 17th of December 2017 at the old township stadium in Tetlow Road in Owerri Municipal Local Government Area in Imo State.   

The Imo State Government combated against street trading in Owerri especially those selling in the demolished Eke Ukwu Owerri Market , Ama - Awusa, Old Stadium Lane and other streets in Owerri warning them to go to the designated Government approved markets and sell their goods.  Security personnel's on guard were shooting guns to scare people away as their selling tables with goods were destroyed so many ceased.  The team was led by the Commissioner for Safety  Prince (Hon) Chidi Nwaturuocha and other executives with the Nigerian Security & Civil Defense Corps, Imo Security Network and Imo Civil Guard Corps.

The Imo Governor His Excellency Owelle Rochas Okorocha on the 15th of December 2017 unveiled the Imo State Christmas village located at Imo State Victory Chapel in Imo State Government House Owerri, under the ministry of happiness and fulfillment purpose headed by Hon.(Mrs). Ogechi Ololo located at  Muhammadu Buhari Road (Bank road) by Nnamdi Azikwe Road (Okigwe Road) in Imo State capital Owerri. The Owerri Zone political forum have expressed their anger against the Imo State Governor His Excellency Owelle Rochas Okorocha calling on the federal Government to look into the unconstitutional autocratic abuse of affirmation of office in Imo State without due consideration of good economic policies because the insensitivity of the Governor have brought harsh in the 27 Local Government Areas of Imo State.  The Governor does not respect court jurisdiction and he is busy inviting presidents of countries to partner with his foundation with Imo State bail out funds and renaming already known Streets and roads without the consent of Imo State Housing Cooperation or the Imo State House of Assembly. The Imo State Governor His Excellency Owelle Rochas Okorocha on the 4th of December 2017 announced the relocation of three state ministries outside Imo State capital Owerri to other Local Government Area's in Imo State they include Ministry of Culture and Tourism relocate to Oguta Local Government Area, Ministry of Agriculture relocate to Ngor Okpala Local Government Area and Ministry of Niger Delta Development Commission relocate to Ohaji Mgbema Local Government Area  as tears flow from the eyes of Imo State Civil Servants and no salary nor any allowance have been paid.     

The former United States of America president Barack Obama have been scheduled to visit Imo State Nigeria January 2018 to sign memorandum of understanding with the Governor of Imo State foundation His Excellency Owelle Rochas Foundation like other colleagues that visited Jacob Zuma of South Africa, Ellen Sirleaf Johnson of Liberia  and  Kofi Nana of Ghana.  According to the announcement made by His Excellency Owelle Rochas Okorocha to Imolites during the delivery of his six years of stewardship in Imo State as the Governor at the Imo International Convention Centre.
