Religious News: Owerri catholic archdiocese, cancel palm Sunday procession

 

Owerri catholic archdiocese, have announced in various parishes and stations, that palm Sunday procession, which is expected to place next Sunday 28TH of March, have been suspended, due to the coronavirus pandemic ravaging the world. 

But all catholic faithfuls, are expected to come to church, with their palms fronds, while observing the covid-19 protocol issued, to mark the glorious  triumphant entry of Jesus into Jerusalem known as passion Sunday to observe the holy week, before the celebration of Easter Sunday.

Nkotonko an Igbo Nollywood drama music comedy actors Emeka Ngannori  (Omalicha) and Shadon Onukaogu as well known as Akuebe were spotted at Bongo square in Owerri with other actors and actresses participating in a movie audition. Owu cultural festival marked at umu-Duru Ifakala in Mbaitoli L.G.A of Imo state

Owu cultural festival is been celebrated by few communities in Mbaitoli local government area of Imo state every June to August yearly only men that are of age are allowed to do the rituals of i wa ukwu na ekwe before you are allowed to participate in the dance activity and has it's own unique dance step with two legs jumping style.  It is not marked on Nkwo market day according to the report gathered no significance or special dish been prepared for the celebration in every house hold as it is in other places in Igboland where festivals are marked.
