As the proper guidelines given, by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the conduct of the presidential primary election, were all followed by the
elected delegates and there was a tight heavily armed security agencies,including EFCC were all seen at the venue.According to the report received by the Drizzlersnews correspondent, who confirmed that a total of two thousand three hundred and twenty two delegates, were accredited to vote, for the screened twenty three aspirants, but any aspirants, with the highest number of votes, will emerge, as the presidential flag bearer and candidate of the party, for the 2023 general election.
Although the electoral committee,reduced the total number of aspirants, from twenty three to thirteen, from the list, but it was further disclosed, that the electoral committee have reached a consensus and only five aspirants were selected, out of the remaining thirteen aspirants.
But there have been several meetings held, to get a consensus or president Muhammadu Buhari, anointed successor, as the APC presidential candidate, was totally turned down, due to the power tussles in the party, as the party chairman of APC Abduallahi Adamu secretly disclosed, that the senate president Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan, have emerged as the consensus candidate, as the northern governors forum chairman Governor Simon Lalong insist, that it is a total betrayal of their trust and not their accepted agreement, but said that power must shift to the southern states region of Nigeria and it was concurred by the chairman of the southern governors forum Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu. But it was speculated that the presidential candidate, will come from the eastern region of the state and during the presidential primary election, a total of seven aspirants, from the south west, south south and south east, stepped down for the former Lagos state governor, who emerged, as the presidential flag bearer of All Progressive Congress (APC) and he is the party candidate for 2023 general election and he was handed over the APC flag by the national working committee chairman Alhaji Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, as he was announced as the winner, and got a total vote of one thousand two hundred and seventy one (1,271).
