I will uplit Uguzo Emekuku festival, to international standard - Bertha Nnaji

 

The  priestess and custodian of Uguzo cultural festival, known as Eze Nwanyi Okitankwo and Agbara Nwanyi Eshimeshi, said the cultural festival, was divinely instituted,as a memorial service and remembrance of  dead umu

Okoroubochi  giant tyrant clan, and oppressors of Okwu Emeke community and reverence to Eziokom deity. 

This yearly reenactment of the processes of the demise of umu Okoro ubochi clan, to averts the ire of the gods, against the people. 

The goddess has always chosen priestesses, for herself to serve as ministers and custodians of her shrine and it's attendant services.  

For a long time, there have been no priestess, because the favor of the great Eziokom, was upon me and i faulted her, refused to take up, the service.

I resisted every move of the goddess, to bring me to spiritual service and she chastised me, in her wisdom and motherly discipline. 

But spared my life, despite my reluctance and resistance, "Here i am to serve Eziokom". 

This is an office, that thrives on truth, natural justice, equity and good conscience, as the office holder must be upright in her dealings, with all and sundry. 

She must be meticulous in carrying out propitiation rites, on behalf of the people of Emekuku. 

To the glory of God, the omnipresent, omniscience and omnipotent, for taking up this service, for our people and others, i urge you all to remember me in your prayers, in whichever style you do your prayers, especially for me, to be rational and humble, in handling the enormous spiritual powers, inherent in this office, like king Solomon of Isreal, i pray for wisdom. 

I wish to use this opportunity also to make a clarion call upon all and sundry, to assist me, as i do all i can, to take this festival and our tradition, to the next level. 

Emekuku must take her place, in her place, in the comity of people, with rich cultural heritage. 

I have hope of making Uguzo cultural festival, to equate and compete with the Osun Osogbo festival of Osun state, which has become a yearly international tourist attraction. 

Chukwuokike Abiama, Ekekereuwa is with us, the great deity of Eziokom, is with us, i am young and educated and nothing can stop us from uplifting this yearly festival.
