Chima Azu was the centre referee that blew 2019 umu-Akuru unity cup soccer finals

Chima Azu is a retired Nigerian professional league player, he hails from Okwu-Emeke akali-ukwu autonomous community in Emekuku Owerri north local government area in Imo state. 

Played in the nation wide league club sides which include Arugo FC, Pacat FC and have won the Emekuku league cup.


He was the central referee that blew the final soccer match in the 2019 umu-Akuru soccer unity cup between group A versus E which ended in a goal less draw. 

But the penalty shoot out should have been the decisive factor to end the game and award the cup to group A  when a player from group E, who was not selected for   the penalty kick became in place of the selected player without the knowledge of the referee over the effected change which was dictated by the lines man after it had been taking by another player and it was cancelled. Although group A won the cup with a 4-3 final score on penalty shoot out.
