Catholic churches force government to resume schools in Imo
While the federal government of Nigeria is considering the resumption of schools for students, who are to sit for external examinations like the West African Examination Council (WAEC) and Joint Admission & Matriculation Board Examination (JAMB) with the final year university students, which have been hindered by the academic staff union of universities chairman Ekpo Nta, who raised an alarm over the scare of COVID-19 pandemic in Nigeria as a big threat in the world and no personal protective equipment have been provided for students and teachers, who are returning back to the school environment, which made the president of the federation Muhammadu Buhari to postponed the examination in Nigeria.
In Imo state, the Owerri catholic archdiocese conducted common entrance examination for students in the junior rate category, who wants to join the seminary schools in Imo state, which the various catholic church premises in Owerri, were used as various centres to conduct the examination under the coronavirus pandemic on Saturday 18th of July, without getting appropriate clearance from the COVID-19
task force committee in Imostate and one of the centres used is the saint Lazarus catholic chaplaincy, Owerri correction service, which was announced during last Tuesday adoration held on 14th of July and the sum of one thousand Naira (#1,000) was paid as common entrance examination fee.
