Owerri gridlocked by Imo state deaf association


The Imo state association of the deaf last night at exactly 7.00PM after a heavy down pour of rain  at Imo state Government house around about opposite Rock view hotel in the capital city of Imo state Owerri barricade Okigwe road axis, Assumpta avenue axis , the Imostate government house and the police head quarters axis,  wetheral road axis which caused gridlock at wetheral road and Other major roads demanding for following according to their chairman Mr. Uzoma Edward said three different letters have been sent to his excellency Owelle Rochas Okorocha which the governor of Imostate refused to give them a reply which means they must wait for the governor of Imostate to come and address them for their demands  employment , Allocation of plots of land , reopening of the office of special assistant, restructuring of dying special education in Imostate, relocation of special education centre primary school along  wetheral road to more safer place and conducive learning environment, provision of two mobility vehicles , let the deaf use the building at

101 wetheral road to serve as their office /conference hall/ deaf Library, provide worship centre for the deaf , Imo state Government should release their 12years subvention fund of 12 million Naira, divide the disable into three groups deaf, blind, and the physically challenged, approval for Imo state to host the 6th edition of the national deaf football championship in 2018 .

Nkotonko an Igbo Nollywood drama music comedy actors Emeka Ngannori  (Omalicha) and Shadon Onukaogu as well known as Akuebe were spotted at Bongo square in Owerri with other actors and actresses participating in a movie audition. Owu cultural festival marked at umu-Duru Ifakala in Mbaitoli L.G.A of Imo state

Owu cultural festival is been celebrated by few communities in Mbaitoli local government area of Imo state every June to August yearly only men that are of age are allowed to do the rituals of i wa ukwu na ekwe before you are allowed to participate in the dance activity and has it's own unique dance step with two legs jumping style.  It is not marked on Nkwo market day according to the report gathered no significance or special dish been prepared for the celebration in every house hold as it is in other places in Igboland where festivals are marked.
