Owerri Youths send storm in Ugwu Ekwema





Oru Owerri procession was scheduled to hold on Saturday 5th of July 2017 and according to the meeting held by the royal fathers, Majority Leader of Imo state House of Assembly Hon. Lugard Osuji and his excellency Owelle Rochas Okorocha they agreed that since they existence and creation of new autonomous communities in the five kindred’s that make up Owerri N’ichi-ise and Amawom community is still mourning H.R.H. Eze. Dr. Emmanuel Emenyeonu Njemanze (Ozuruigbo V of Owerri), they rest can go ahead and hold Oru Owerri procession in Ugwu Ekwema with the youths and age grades.
As early as 6.00 AM canopies has been mounted waiting for they arrival of the guests to they greatest surprise of all, youths of Owerri n’ichi-ise  in their large number came inside Ugwu Ekwema carried all they canopies down in the presence of police officers and other security agencies as they buffets were quickly carried to they cars Imo state Majority Leader Hon. Lugard Osuji, His excellency Owelle Rochas Okorocha  and newly elected Eze’s of Owerri

n’ichi-ise is no where to be found and they youths left exactly 1.00 PM  at Ugwu Ekwema arena and sent a warning to elders as well as  Owelle Rochas Okorocha the executive Governor of Imo state  that Njemanze family is the only known royal family in Owerri n’ichi-ise and they are still mourning H.R.H Eze. Dr . Emmanuel Emenyeonu  Njemanze and their no successor for now so they should wait until next year they real Oru Owerri procession will be done colourfully and according to the tradition.

Owu cultural festival marked at umu-Duru Ifakala in Mbaitoli L.G.A of Imo state

Owu cultural festival is been celebrated by few communities in Mbaitoli local government area of Imo state every June to August yearly only men that are of age are allowed to do the rituals of i wa ukwu na ekwe before you are allowed to participate in the dance activity and has it's own unique dance step with two legs jumping style.  It is not marked on Nkwo market day according to the report gathered no significance or special dish been prepared for the celebration in every house hold as it is in other places in Igboland where festivals are marked.
