St.Peter catholic women organization Ubowalla parish, marked the grand finale of their 2021 annual August meeting,with a powerful packaged lectures,that will

bring cordial relationship in our various families and development in the community. 


The glamorous event is not a merriment galore and show of wealth, but it exposed some basic necessary social amenities, that are needed to support human healthy living standard in the community, and challenged them, to have well built equipped health centre in Ubowalla. so many women go as far as holy rosary hospital Emekuku, to get their children immunized or will relay on the existing private hospitals, as well maternity homes, to immunize their children and she encouraged mothers to ensure that their children is immunized against polio, although it was announced that Nigeria is free, but it resurfaced in Abia state.  

She encouraged them to ensure that get they vaccinated for the out break of the cornonavirus and informed them that the vaccine is safe and all negative messages about the vaccine is not true. 

The guest speaker informed to maintain healthy hygienic environment, because there is an out break of cholera and mothers should ensure that their drinking water is properly treated before drinking, even though we have borehole water scheme now, but the water storage tanks should be properly washed always. 

But the main focus,for this year August meeting agenda is the campaign, to stop female child genital mutilation,which is commonly known as circumcision and it is one of the commonly practiced activities in our community, and it is done without the consent of medical practitioners and it has exposed our female children to alot of diseases, according to the report received from UNICEF and warned the women, that it is an abuse on the right of the child and it should be stopped.

Nkotonko an Igbo Nollywood drama music comedy actors Emeka Ngannori  (Omalicha) and Shadon Onukaogu as well known as Akuebe were spotted at Bongo square in Owerri with other actors and actresses participating in a movie audition. Owu cultural festival marked at umu-Duru Ifakala in Mbaitoli L.G.A of Imo state

Owu cultural festival is been celebrated by few communities in Mbaitoli local government area of Imo state every June to August yearly only men that are of age are allowed to do the rituals of i wa ukwu na ekwe before you are allowed to participate in the dance activity and has it's own unique dance step with two legs jumping style.  It is not marked on Nkwo market day according to the report gathered no significance or special dish been prepared for the celebration in every house hold as it is in other places in Igboland where festivals are marked.
