One person was shot dead, at Abia state new yam festival

 

A man identified as Kingsely Akpan, from Akwa Ibom state, who work as a driver, with Michael Okpara university umudike in Abia state, was shot dead, during the Abia state new yam festival. 

According to the report received by the Drizzlersnews correspondent, who said that the sad incident happened, on Monday at F-line junction, in Agbama housing estate umuahaia, where his shop is and they were there, suddenly they heard a sound of a gun shot, and it was discovered that Kingsely, have been strucked by a bullet on his chest and it is been suspected, that it was shot by a group of unknown persons, from Olokoro umuahia south, who came for the new yam festival celebration. 

But Kingsely was immediately rushed, to a private hospital, where he was rejected and was taking to federal medical centre umuahia, where he was confirmed dead.

Owu cultural festival marked at umu-Duru Ifakala in Mbaitoli L.G.A of Imo state

Owu cultural festival is been celebrated by few communities in Mbaitoli local government area of Imo state every June to August yearly only men that are of age are allowed to do the rituals of i wa ukwu na ekwe before you are allowed to participate in the dance activity and has it's own unique dance step with two legs jumping style.  It is not marked on Nkwo market day according to the report gathered no significance or special dish been prepared for the celebration in every house hold as it is in other places in Igboland where festivals are marked.
