Nigerian Bar Association Imostate branch protest over members held under police detention

 
The Nigerian Bar Association Imo state branch carried out a mass protest along Orlu road and inside the Imo state Judiciary court premises demanding the immediate release of their two members held under police detention last week.

According to the report  received from Andrew Enwerem the Imo state police public relation officer accepted that police invaded the umu-neke Ngor-Okpala magistrate court with order accusing the chief magistrate of accepting bribe to release a known notorious armed robber and refused the re-arrest of the suspect as well the two lawyers parked their car at the entrance of the court masterminded plans to whiskey away the suspects before they are arrested along with the suspect and taking to the Imo state police head quarters although the matter is in court.


But the president of Nigerian Bar Association Imo state branch Damian Anosike wants the two lawyers be released to them on self recognition and the good repute relationship the have with Nigerian police force which was not granted to by the Imo state commissioner of police Dasuki Galadanchi and barrister Anosike appealed to state and federal government to intervene in the matter.
