Oru Owerri 2018 pass over festival

Oru Owerri festival is a great historic event celebrated by Owerri N'ichi ise autonomous community in Owerri municipal local government area in Imo state in Ala-enyi clan, which was con-celebrated with their brothers and elders from Awaka, Akwakuma, Egbu, Ihitte-Ogada, Naze, Orji, Uratta to marked the heroic migration of Ekwem the foundation father of Owerri N'ichi-ise from Uratta in Owerri-North local government because of a hunted animal which he fought to get his portion but his brothers mastered to kill him which made Ekwem to flee  to their present ancestral home Ugwu Ekwema in Owerri municipal local government area in Imostate where he held the passover feast with his five children Amawom, Umu-Ororonjo, Umu-Oyima, Umu-Odu, Umu-Onye eche . 

According to the chairman of all Owerri N'ichi-ise Oha's Onyewuchi Anukam said they principal laws guiding Oru Owerri is that once it is been marked you must not fight or quarrel with your brother nor take any case to court or police because is a unity pass over festival marked with roasted yam, garnished ugba (African salad) and palm wine shared by the Oha's and Obilobi's of every family guests are been entertained with masquerade dance and Oru Owerri music . 

On the 21st of July 2018 all age grades in their traditional wrapper attires to visit the grave side of Ekwem Oparaugo at Ugwu Ekwema situated along Egbu road by Fire service.
