South-East states adopt state police bill
The annual south east security summit meeting for the year 2018 was held in Imo state at the Trade and Investment center where all the security agencies in the five south eastern states of Nigeria but four states governor's sent delegates except Imo state who is the host his excellency Owelle Rochas Okorocha was present as they deliberate on security challenges in Nigeria and proffer a lasting solution with the theme COMMUNITY POLICING RETHINKING NATIONAL SECURITY FRAME WORK OF OUR NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT as they three guest lecturers Professor Muhammad Umar, Emmanuel Ojukwu, and Chief Nanaya Nwaoha all suggested that their is need to create a synergy confidence relationship between the community and the police for information as well maintain it's confidentiality.
Poverty and lack of employment opportunities is a serious security threat to Nigerian government.
Proper utilization of budgeted funds in purchasing modern technologies for intelligent report gathering through retraining of staffs and proper promotion of staff officers.
The securities agencies should work together and share an idealistic intelligent report for an effective securing of the nation.
Owelle Rochas Okorocha sympathized with the Inspector general of police Ibrahim Idris Kpotum over the challenges been observed in Nigerian especially in the middle belt states appealed to Nigerian citizens to speak positively about our nation because their is no nation or country without it's own challenges and problems but suggested that the establishment of the state police will have a great impact only if it is channeled down to the communities because the south eastern states have been practicing community policing through the use of local community vigilantes which made it possible for the south east states to control the high level of kidnapping through division of labour so accepted that the state police bill be read at the national assembly and be passed into law.
