Tribunal sacks PDP lawmaker in Imo



Isiala Mbano / Onuimo/Okigwe federal house of representative member who was elected under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the national assembly  Obinna Onwubuariri have been recalled back by the tribunal.


According to the judgment delivered by the chairman of the panel Harriman P said the petitioner Princess Miriam Onuoha of All Progressive Congress (APC) presented facts before the tribunal that the election result figures were mutilated and over voted during the election, which therefore led to her votes been reduced .

 The tribunal have ordered INEC to conduct supplementary election in four polling units in Binji constituency.

The election of a member of the House of Representatives, Obinna Onwubuariri, representing Isiala Mbano/Onuimo/Okigwe federal constituency of Imo state, has been annulled. The cancellation of Onwubuariri's election was effected by the National Assembly elections petitions tribunal in Owerri, the state capital, on Wednesday, September 18, PM News reports. According to the ruling delivered by the chairman of the panel, R. Harriman, a rerun election is to be conducted in the constituency by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). This came after the petitioner, Princess Miriam Onuoha of the All Progressives Congress (APC), claimed before the tribunal that the annulled election was fraught with over-voting, mutilation of figures, and the reduction of her votes. Owu cultural festival marked at umu-Duru Ifakala in Mbaitoli L.G.A of Imo state

Owu cultural festival is been celebrated by few communities in Mbaitoli local government area of Imo state every June to August yearly only men that are of age are allowed to do the rituals of i wa ukwu na ekwe before you are allowed to participate in the dance activity and has it's own unique dance step with two legs jumping style.  It is not marked on Nkwo market day according to the report gathered no significance or special dish been prepared for the celebration in every house hold as it is in other places in Igboland where festivals are marked.
