Abortion legalized in Benin republic

 

Lawmakers in Benin republic on Wednesday, voted for the legalization of abortion in their country, after a heated debate, in the chamber, as many opposed it, but it was amended, with the following conditions, before it was passed, 

According to the report, received by the Drizzlersnews correspondent, who said that some restrictions were made, based on the termination of pregnancy, within the range of three months, which may cause material, educational, professional or moral distress, incompatible with the woman or unborn child interest.

But disclosed that in the previous years in Benin, it is legal in their land, that abortion could be carried out, if a life of a mother, carrying the pregnancy is under threat, that could lead to her death, rape and incest conditions, with several consultations from parents or guardian, an abortion will be carried out. 

Many still believe that it could increase the high rate of prostitution and the new law passed, on terminations may be bastardized, as it is estimated that about two hundred women die out of abortion complication every month.

Owu cultural festival marked at umu-Duru Ifakala in Mbaitoli L.G.A of Imo state

Owu cultural festival is been celebrated by few communities in Mbaitoli local government area of Imo state every June to August yearly only men that are of age are allowed to do the rituals of i wa ukwu na ekwe before you are allowed to participate in the dance activity and has it's own unique dance step with two legs jumping style.  It is not marked on Nkwo market day according to the report gathered no significance or special dish been prepared for the celebration in every house hold as it is in other places in Igboland where festivals are marked.
