Okoli Obioma made history in Nigeria
Alvan Ikoku College of Education Owerri, was highly tensed yesterday not for wrong reasons but the student union Government (SUG) election was held yesterday with the heavy presence of uniform security personnel's with ammunition's standby in the college premises.
The electoral committee chairman and his officers were ready as the students gathered at the football field to elect their leaders and the two strong contenders for the position of SUG president were Mr. Smart Stanley who is from Imo state and Mr. Okoli Obioma from Anambra state .
Accreditation as well as voting started exactly 9.00 AM in the morning, as the off campus students and students living in the dormitory voted separately at exactly 1.00 PM voting stopped. While the coalition of results were going on in the presence of the booth agents of varrious candidates at the pavilion cover stand.
The result was announced by the former Alvan provost Dr.(Mrs) Ijioma Blessing in the presence of Acting provost Mr. N.D Anyanwu and other staffs of Alvan when the humble and well composed 200 Level Education English student Mr. Okoli Obioma was declared the winner and now regarded as president of college to be sworn into office today.
