Holy family sister's of the needy at Okwu-Uratta in Owerri - North local government area in Imo state, known as saint Joseph home for orphanage and destitute, which belongs to the roman catholic church under Owerri arch diocese, under it's U-care program, but it is been managed by reverend sister's. On Monday 29th of May, a group of women, men, disable people were seen at the entrance gate of the orphanage home, although they have spent a long time at that time as some of them have started indirectly begging people money for food.  At exactly 1.00 pm they were given food items ranging from rice, beans and clothes were been given to them.  Drizzlersnews reporter who stood to monitor the situation made inquiry about the people who were given the food items, according to a woman whose name was withheld, but have a shop opposite the orphanage home said these are destitute and poor people, who are been fed by the reverend sister's and the food items are ...

Check out bus parked for the past 3 months at the Ugwu-Ekwema

This mini-bus have been parked at the entrance gate of ugwu-Ekwema arena by trans-Egbu road close to relief market in Owerri.   It could be that the engine developed a bad fault, that made the owner of the car to abandon it.  But the  Drizzlersnews reporter, who was on assignment, passed close to the bus, he perceived an offensive odor coming out from the bus parked, he suspected that something must have been dead inside the bus and it is a health hazard in the environment, further investigation was carried out to know the content of the vehicle only for him to discover that the odor was caused by fresh slaughtered  cow bones in the bus, with blood on it.  which must have been abandoned for months or the butcher is using it to park bones, which is not conducive for human health because it is a busy business environment and dangerous ammunition could be hidden inside the bus.   The general public is begging the environmental transformati...

A friendly match between umu-Akuru versus Akaolovo will be played on Sunday 28th of June 2020, at community secondary school field Emekuku, also known as Manacara stadium by 4.00 pm in the evening.  The both teams are from Akailiukwu autonomous community in Emekuku, although umu-Akuru won Okwuemeke in a soccer friendly with a 1-0 score line although the return leg is yet to be played.  umu-Akuru have more better players than Akaolovo, but Akaolovo needs to build a more solid midfield and defense to contend the strikers of their counterpart.  Who do you think will win the match tomorrow and your score line get a recharge card from the Drizzlersnews

Archbishop AJV Obinna mark his 74th birthday

The Owerri diocese catholic archbishop his grace Rev.Anthony John Valentine Obinna is marking his  74TH birth day.  He is from umuocham Emekuku and was born on the 26TH of June 1946 in the family of Obinna.  AJV was ordained a priest in 1972 and he was appointed as a bishop of Owerri diocese in 1993 by pope John the second and was consecrated in 1994 by bishop Carlos Maria Vigano.  He was a lecturer at Alvan Ikoku college of education and have written as well published so many books.  Obinna is an activist and a devoted catholic he succeeded late bishop Mark Unaegbu.  we wish him many more years in the lords vineyard.

Imo teachers begs Hope Uzodinma to pay them their salaries

Nigerian union of teachers (NUT) Imo state chapter have appealed to the Imo state governor Hope Uzodinma to pay them their salaries.  According to the report received by the Drizzlersnews, for the past five months since February - June, the have not received any salary and if anybody can read as well write it is the teacher who impact the positive knowledge into the students, which have helped them in their various careers of endeavor.  The schools in Nigeria have remained closed due to the coronavirus pandemic for the past three months and no palliatives were given to them.  Although the commissioner of information Kenneth Emelumba said some of them have refused to submit their bank verification number details during their verification exercise conducted in various schools, before the lock down.   NUT remind the governor that these teachers have families and relations who are depending on them.

Pensioners protest in Owerri, over non-payment of their pensions

Imo state pensioners have cried out loud, over non payment of their pensions.  They were seen with their placards at Assumpta Avenue in Owerri, heading towards the government house and a ccording to the report received by the Drizzlersnews, from the Nigerian union of pensioners, Imo state chapter, have appealed with the Imo state governor Hope Uzodinma to pay them because so many of them are dying out of hunger and m any of them have not received their pension for the past five months and their is no other source of lively hood for them because the money was contributed when the were active in service to take care of their retirement old age before the die and not having access to it is the world end on earth.  Many of their children who is to take care of them at their old age are  unemployed after their education nor under paid where the are working and some are unskilled which the cannot take care of themselves or handle medical bills and are unsure of their...

Patrick Uche nwoke assassinated at Ahaba Orodo in Mbaitoli

Imo state police command have intensified their search for the killers of Mr.Patrick Uche nwoke, who was found in the pool of his own blood, at an isolated area in Ahaba Orodo Community School. According the report received by the Drizzlersnews, from police public relation officer SP Orlando,  confirmed during his press report that a 55 years old man, who is a native of Oboro Amurie in Isu local government area in Imo state, was murdered by an unknown high killers  at Ahaba Orodo. Orlando noted that, from the report earlier made to the station, operatives of the divisional police headquarters in Mbaitoli, moved to the isolated area around Ahaba Orodo Community School and found the Uche nwoke's corpse on the ground. The new executives of Amawom youth organization in Owerri n'chi-ise autonomous community, led by the president of the organization Elvis Uzoma Nnadi and his vice president Christian Obioma Opara with other executives, have revived the vigilante security guards in the community.  According to the report received by the Drizzlersnews, the vigilante security guards have been given military training and equipped with ammunition  which have been registered with a licence and issued by the Nigerian police force, but their monthly salary payment have been increased.  Many of the guards are seen on street patrol at night from 9.00 pm with the supervision of the police, as robbery incident been observed before in the community have been put on strict control.      Amawom is one of the five communities that made up Owerri n'chi-ise autonomous community, which is under Ikenegbu ward according to INEC map, because it is the nearest to the we...

Herdsmen killed a 65 years old man at Agwa in Oguta L.G.A

A 65 years old man identified as Mazi Ozoemena Iriaka was killed by herdsmen at umu-Ekpu Agwa in Oguta local government area in Imo state, on the 15th of June 2020, he was shot dead and his neck was slit with a machete.
