My father, Dr. Joe Obi Njoku, has gone to join his maker. Here,

,his biography up to 2018, before his aspiration for the governorship of Imo State.
"Why, man, he doth bestride the narrow world like Colossus, and we petty men walk under his huge legs and peep about."?
So, my father left the way so that we may blossom. His shadow was massive. He told my mother to let us know how proud he was of us. To tell us that he lived a fulfilled life. He made peace with his God and went forth beyond. I can only imagine how briskly he walked.
My father was such a man that builds a nation. He was such an intelligent man, never was without a plan, never was without an answer. I always felt mediocre around him and hoped to make him proud. He never saw us as unfit, it was just our own expectations. He told his friends whenever he could that he has 6 excellent children. The typical Igbo man. He wanted to have a doctor, an engineer, a pharmacist, a lawyer... He got it all, then decided to cut my youngest siblings some slack. Pheeew!!! Being Obi Njoku's child meant that you had to have sterling academic credentials, be hard-working, not be driven by financial gain, and to live beyond pettiness.
My father was a shoulder that carried more people than we knew because he felt responsible for the needy. He told us of his humble beginnings and how everyone deserved a chance. That he was only a poor boy who lost his own father when he was still a child; who pushed sand-filled trucks to construction sites for pennies; who saw death at the war-front during the Biafran War at only 14 years of age; a humble teacher; and a cigarette salesman. He eventually qualified as a medical doctor because he was given a chance by his inlaw, Sir Onuegbu. He made the best use of it and remained grateful till his last breathe.
My father was not a good man, he was a great man. He was a great doctor, a great politician, a great community leader, a great father, and great in everything he did.
He set different standards for us than he did for other people. People often thought it was fun being Obi Njoku's son ðŸ˜‚. It was hard! It meant that my father wouldn't find you a job, he wouldn't help you if you failed a class, and he wouldn't give you luxuries. It was all a trade. You had to prove that you deserved it. But to other people, he lowered this standard.
It was a privilege to be raised by this Collosus of a man.
Don't pity me and my siblings, my father prepared us for this world. I pity the birds he nested, their Iroko tree is no more. His last whatsapp message to me was a song "Hello God" by Dolly Parton. My father was deliberate. He knew that his time was up. He lived for only 67 years but those years were well-spent. It was ripe old age for the impact he had made already. I once asked him how he would like to end his story. So, I guess he felt it was a good way to end his story.
I am proud of my father. He was a rose that grew on concrete. His seed fell on concrete but still he blossomed.
Cheers to a great man whose adversaries admired. Irrespective of how you see Dr. Obi Njoku, Doc was a once-in-a-lifetime kind of man.
Obi Njoku! You were no coward. You died only once!

Dr.Joseph Obi Njoku was a former local government chairman in Ikeduru local government area and contested as a governorship aspirant under the platform of all progressive grande alliance (APGA) during their 2019 primary election, with the likes of Uche Onyeagocha, Ikedi ohakim

He is a medical practitioner from umu-ememe Uzoagba in Ikeduru local government area and the founder as well the executive chairman of Jones medical & diagnosis centre in Owerri.
