Community News: Oru Owerri annual cultural festival, will take place on

 

Oru Owerri annual historical cultural festival, of Owerri nchi-ise autonomous community, will take place on the 14TH of July 2021, and it is an archaeological event, which is marked, with a praise to God, at Ugwu-Ekwema, with a background detailed trace of the founding father of Owerri nchi-ise Ekwem Oparaugo, from his ancestral home in Uratta to Ugwu-Ekwema, with his children, where he ate yam and red palm oil. 

Since the declaration of Oru Owerri cultural festival, by Oha Owerri elders council, people are warned not to engage in any fight with each other, including strangers and all court cases, police cases are suspended, until the festival is over.

Although it is not clearly stated, when the ground finale of the festival, will take place, as it was organized year at Ugwu-Ekwema, but the chairman of Oha Owerri elders council, Boniface Anukam was laid to eternal rest and nobody knew if he will be accorded a respect and be cancelled, which will be determined by the organizing committee of the festival.

But since the exist of late (HRH) Emmanuel Njemanze, it has created a big vacuum in the community and to get his successor, changed to a political power of tussle in the Njemanze dynasty and the former governor of Imo state Owelle Rochas Okorocha divided the Owerri nchi-ise autonomous community, into different three different autonomous, during his administration and many believe that it is the right step to get government support and some are calling for the cancellation of the other created autonomous communities in Owerri nchi-ise because Njemanze royal dynasty is the only recognized traditional ruler in the community.

Nkotonko music drama actors Omalicha and Akuebe in movie audition

Nkotonko an Igbo Nollywood drama music comedy actors Emeka Ngannori  (Omalicha) and Shadon Onukaogu as well known as Akuebe were spotted at Bongo square in Owerri with other actors and actresses participating in a movie audition. Owu cultural festival marked at umu-Duru Ifakala in Mbaitoli L.G.A of Imo state

Owu cultural festival is been celebrated by few communities in Mbaitoli local government area of Imo state every June to August yearly only men that are of age are allowed to do the rituals of i wa ukwu na ekwe before you are allowed to participate in the dance activity and has it's own unique dance step with two legs jumping style.  It is not marked on Nkwo market day according to the report gathered no significance or special dish been prepared for the celebration in every house hold as it is in other places in Igboland where festivals are marked.
